20+ Things to carry while going on a Vacation with a baby -Baby Travel Checklist

I usually had to travel with my baby and had planned for it about a month ago. Traveling with a baby can be a bit tricky, but after being sure that you have everything your baby may need, then it should not be a major struggle.

Here is a list of things that I always carry in a handy bag separately for my baby. I hope it helps you.

Traveling With a Baby by Car:

·        Baby Car Seat:

Carrying a baby on your lap while traveling is quite an uncomfortable situation, whether you are traveling by car or by flight carrying a baby car seat will give you great relief, also you will not have to worry much about the baby's safety. Try that you have FAA approved car seat for better safety of your baby.

·        Soft hankies: Babies always make messes so put a habit of carrying a soft hanky with you for the baby, as the skin of the baby is quite sensitive to avoid rashes.

·        Baby Water Bottle: While traveling too we should be careful that the baby drinks enough water, a baby water bottle will solve the purpose. Baby will fill comfortable drinking more and more water through the baby bottle.

·        Diapers: Pack 3-4 diapers for each day. Make sure that you use rash-free cream each time before using a diaper.

·        Wet Wipes(lots of them): Each time clean the area with wet wipes after the use of diapers. In case your baby spits out something or throws up, then it would be better to use wet wipes.

·        Tissue paper(if the baby makes some mess around you while traveling).

·        Polythene bags:

when you are traveling you will need them to throw away used diapers in the dustbin.

·        Sanitizer :

Whenever you change your baby's diaper, after every time use the sanitizer to keep your hand germ-free and clean.

·        Cotton dupatta or a blanket:

If your baby falls asleep you can cover him soft dupatta or with a blanket.

·        Extra clothes for your baby(2-3 outfits for a day).

·        Some extra clothes for you too in case your baby spills something on you or makes a mess.

·        Basic medicines: For fever & regular ones too.

·        Nasal Drops: If the child gets a stuffy nose while on vacation.

·        A Nursing Cover: If  Your Baby on breastfeeding, you can cover the nursing cover while breastfeeding also you can use a cotton dupatta instead.

·        Baby towels.

·        Baby lotion, powder, body wash, shampoo, oil, toothbrush & toothpaste(if your baby is more than a year)

·        Milk or Formula milk: I always carry cow milk in a thermos (with Bornvita). If you are planning for more than a day then use formula bottle milk when you are traveling.

·        cerela(a couple of them of your baby's favorite).

·        A couple of his favorite toys to keep him busy while traveling and keep him happy all day.

·     Homemade snacks for the Baby:

Rosted nuts, Fafda, Khakra, Rosted Makhana, cheeps, etc: It's a very good option to carry snacks like these. If the child gets irritated on the way due to traveling you can distract him by offering him such sacks which children tend to like a lot.

.

Traveling with a baby on a plane:

Traveling with babies by plane can be a bit tedious, But proper planning and the right information can give you a better experience.

For babies, less than 2 years ticket is not requiredbut that means that you will have to take your baby your baby on your lap. Airlines may ask you for the birth certificate of the baby to confirm the age of your baby If you are carrying your baby on your lap. Technically, most airlines require you to show proof of age for your lap infant. If you get to the airport counter and do not have any documentation for your baby, airlines can theoretically require you to purchase a regular seat for your child. Not only can same-day flights be quite expensive, but you also risk the chance of the flight being sold

Some airlines offer airline bassinets attached to the airplane bulkhead wall. Most airline bassinets require the baby to be under 6 months old and/or 20 pounds, and not yet able to sit up unassisted. Check with your airline when booking.

Yet, I will suggest buying a ticket for your baby even if he is less than 2 years. You can carry a baby seat and comfort your baby through the journey,

NOTE: You will need a passport of your baby if you are traveling internationally.

How can you keep your baby comfortable and content on the plane?

Dress in layers. The temperature in a plane can vary widely,  so layers of clothing are best. As you pick out clothing, choose the clothes that would be easy to change the diaper in a smaller area, Also, pack a change of clothes or two, in case turbulence hit when you are feeding. Bring plastic bags for soiled clothing.

Research on why ears pop. Ears pop when planes take off and land causing temporary ear pain. Because the change in pressure is immense, the smaller Eustachian tubes in babies can’t handle the pressure and they pop. The pain usually accompanies this in children. It gets worse if he or she has a cold or ear condition. If the child cries, sing a song or play with her to get her mind off the pain, consider breastfeeding

If possible, travel at a time when your baby naturally sleeps, or consider trying to put off a nap until it's time to fly. Keep in mind that sleeping babies are easier for everyone

Consider a diaper change right before boarding. A dry baby is a happy baby.

Bring distractions. Pack some toys and books and be ready to play with your baby the entire time. A tablet with videos can be a good backup if the toys and books aren't helping anymore

Pack formula-expressed breast milk, or water for mixing with powder separately, and be ready to let the airline know you have it. There is no one object in India to carry formula milk on flights. You can carry a thermos of hot water (500 ml) plus a baby's bottle of drinking water (300 ml), yet on international flights, they are more strict about the 100 ml restriction on liquid IDs.
